There is some dispute as to the origin and meaning of the
name "Tampa". It is believed to mean "sticks of fire" in
the language of the Calusa, who were a Native American tribe that once lived in
the area. This could have emanated from the fact that during the summer months
the west central Florida area has numerous lighting strikes. Some scholars
believe Tampa refers to the phrase “the place to gather sticks”. Either way..it’s
a great place to live and work and we’re happy to be here!
