Mariner's Score Big with Hernandez

Wow! Felix Hernandez has said in the past that he wanted to be a Mariner for life. With his new 7 year contract deal for $175 million, it appears he won’t be leaving Seattle anytime soon! The staggering figure makes Hernandez the highest paid pitcher in baseball. ''I think it's a great thing for the Seattle Mariners,'' Seattle general manager Jack Zduriencik said. ''It's a great thing for Felix Hernandez, and looking forward to this guy being here for a very long time, obviously.'' By the end of the contract, Hernandez will be 34 years old.

Super Sunday Wings

Are you planning your Super Bowl party food yet?  For some…. it’s all about the BBQ…. while others have their favorite appetizers, dips or fancy drinks. What’s a football party without the chicken wings? Now, we can all probably agree, you can find as many chicken wings recipes out there as there are fans watching the game. As for me, I love to marinate them the night before with a little dry rub and throw them on the grill for a nice smoky appetizer. Here’s a favorite recipe we want to share with you. It can be served on a plate with a side of blue cheese and celery sticks.

 8 tablespoons light brown sugar tightly packed
* 3 tablespoons kosher salt
* 1 tablespoon chili powder
* 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
* 1/2 teaspoon chipotle chile pepper powder
* 1/2 teaspoon thyme (crushed)
* 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Mix all the ingredients, sprinkle rub on wings and marinate in refrigerator for at least 3 hours. Cook the wings on the BBQ and serve as is or baste them the last few minutes with your favorite BBQ sauce.
