Time Change is Here Again

Some love it, some don't but, either way..this Sunday is the time to roll the clocks back one hour. The official time to do the rollback is 2:00 a.m. Sunday. However, changing all the clocks before you go to bed Saturday night works best for a lot of people. In fact, if you have an older electronic device from before 2007..they might have changed back already last week. The older devices would rely on the fourth Sunday schedule from the Uniform Time Act of 1966. That got tossed out the window with the current Energy Policy Act of 2005.

How Tampa Got Its Name

There is some dispute as to the origin and meaning of the name "Tampa". It is believed to mean "sticks of fire" in the language of the Calusa, who were a Native American tribe that once lived in the area. This could have emanated from the fact that during the summer months the west central Florida area has numerous lighting strikes. Some scholars believe Tampa refers to the phrase “the place to gather sticks”. Either way..it’s a great place to live and work and we’re happy to be here!

Earthquake Strikes Japan

Let agree...if the earth shakes, rattles and rolls, and it's a 7.3...it's no place you want to be!  At 2:oo a.m. Tokyo Time Saturday, a 7.3 earthquake struck the east coast of Japan. The good news is that the center was located far off the east coast in deep water. According to reports, there were a few small tsunamis generated but, they didn't cause any damage. Now, that is good news!

Clearwater Jazz Holiday

The Clearwater Jazz Holiday Festival is one of the popular music festivals you can enjoy this weekend near Tampa. In its 34^th year, the Festival continues today through Sunday. And, though the name implies jazz…you can also enjoy alternative country, funk, and pop artists performing live on stage. Tickets are $10 in advance or $20 at the gate.
