It’s always fun to discover or maybe swap recipes with a friend. Some of
the recipes I’ve saved over the years have become our
favorite foods. Here’s a cool recipe if you’ve ever craved apple pies from the
golden arches. Try it out for the Halloween party and see if your treats aren't the crowd favorite!
- 3 green apples
- One box of ready-rolled puff pastries
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 2 or more cups of canola oil – depending on pot size (enough to submerge the pies)
—Peel apples, chopping them into little pieces, placing them
into a pot on the stove.
—Add brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir until mixed.
—Cook on medium heat for 10 minutes (or until apples have softened). Remove pan from stove and let cool for 30 minutes.
—With a sharp knife, cut two sheets of ready-rolled pastry, each into 4 strips.
—With your finger, lightly wet the edges of each strip.
— Add 2 teaspoons of apple mixture onto one half of each strip. Fold the pastry over, and press a fork onto the edges to create little grooves around the pie.
—Cool in the fridge for 15 minutes.
—Heat oil in a wok (or deep-fryer). To gauge whether it’s hot enough, dip a small piece of puff pastry into the oil. If the pastry sizzles and browns in 10 seconds, it’s hot enough.
—Place two pies in the oil, cooking for 2 to 3 minutes (or until golden), gently flipping for even coverage.
—Once golden, gently lift each pie with a slotted spoon, allowing the oil to drain into the pot, then place on a plate lined with paper towels.
