Last Lunar Landing

It’s hard to believe how fast time goes by! Forty years ago this week, NASA launched Apollo 17 for its last mission to land men on the moon. This was also the first time that NASA had launched at night. I remember our family gathering around the TV every time they launched, but to witness the 363ft rocket   soaring through the night’s sky was unforgettable. With long flames blasting from its engines and huge plumes of smoke, it was every kid’s dream to experience a launch in person at Cape Canaveral.  Eugene Cernan, Harrison “Jack” Smith and Ronald Evans were the three astronauts aboard Apollo 17 on this last and final flight. With all the amazing technology being developed today, it kind of makes you wonder how far a manned ship will go into space on day. Only time will tell.
