The Skyway Bridge was built in the early 1980's after the old bridge was hit by a freighter in the fog. Many people lost their lives due to this accident. The new bridge was first of its kind in North America, with center span and its cables radiating outward. This bridge is worth a drive over and back for the views of Tampa Bay.
